The DeKalb County Community Foundation (DCCF) has appointed Scott Gulke as its new finance director, effective immediately. Gulke, a lifelong resident of Sycamore, Illinois, brings nearly 30 years of corporate finance experience to the role, along with a strong dedication to his community.

In a statement released by the foundation, Gulke expressed his enthusiasm for the position. “What drew me to the foundation was its giving and helping spirit. I love my community and want to be part of something that helps it remain a place where people want to raise their families,” he said. His local roots and passion for community service align well with DCCF’s mission to enhance the quality of life throughout DeKalb County.

Gulke began his career at Allstate‘s corporate headquarters in Northbrook, Illinois, after earning a bachelor’s degree in finance from Northern Illinois University. Following a successful corporate career, he entered a phase of semi-retirement, during which he engaged in substitute teaching at local schools and remained active in community initiatives. His contributions to local arts include volunteering with the Children’s Community Theatre, Stage Coach Players, and productions at Sycamore High School, where he helped build sets and support various projects.

Gulke has a strong family connection to Sycamore; he and his wife, who is also his high school sweetheart, have four children and six grandchildren, several of whom attend local schools. In his leisure time, he enjoys playing volleyball, riding bikes, and spending time with his grandchildren.

In his new role at DCCF, Gulke will oversee the foundation’s financial operations. His responsibilities include ensuring the effective stewardship of charitable assets and supporting the foundation’s initiatives that aim to improve the community. Dan Templin, Executive Director of DCCF, expressed enthusiasm about Gulke’s appointment, stating, “We’re thrilled to welcome Scott to the foundation team. His strong local roots, financial expertise, and commitment to our stewardship role make him an outstanding addition.”
