Community Mourns the Loss of Philanthropist Phyllis Farquhar
It is with profound sadness that the community of Comox Valley, British Columbia, announces the passing of Phyllis Louise Farquhar (nee Jackson), who died on January 1, 2026, at the age of 81. Phyllis was a cherished member of her community, known for her unwavering dedication to volunteerism and her generous spirit.
Born on March 16, 1944, Phyllis spent her life fostering connections and supporting those around her. Her commitment to helping others left a lasting impact on many lives, making her a beloved figure in the area.
Legacy of Love and Family
Phyllis is survived by her devoted husband, Mervyn Farquhar, and their two daughters, Shelly Simms (Rod) and Robin Miller (Don). She was a proud grandmother to six granddaughters: Jennifer (Jesse), Natasha, Michelle, Rachelle (Jeremie), Samantha (Travis), and Toni. Phyllis also took immense pride in her role as a great-grandmother to seventeen great-grandchildren, who brought her tremendous joy.
Her family remembers her not only for her generosity but also for her unwavering support and kindness. She is lovingly remembered by her brother Robert Jackson (Shirley), her sister Shirley (late Roy Middlemiss), and numerous nieces and nephews. Phyllis was predeceased by her sisters Doreen (Charlie Douglas) and Joyce (Earl Blair).
A Lasting Impact
Phyllis’s contributions to the community will be deeply missed. Her kindness and dedication to service inspired those around her, creating a legacy of love and compassion. Community members are expected to gather in remembrance, celebrating the life of a woman who brought light into their lives.
A private burial will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Hinchinbrooke, Quebec, in late spring of 2026. As the community comes to terms with this loss, the memory of Phyllis Louise Farquhar will continue to resonate, reminding all of the power of kindness and community spirit.
