Community Launches Bumper Sticker Campaign to Find Eli Wood
The search for 25-year-old Eli Wood, who has been missing for over 100 days, has taken a new turn as a community-driven bumper sticker campaign is launched to raise awareness about his disappearance. Wood vanished from his home in Kitchener, Ontario, following a suspicious fire on October 19, 2023, which authorities have classified as arson. Since that date, there have been no confirmed sightings, and his family and friends continue to seek answers.
In an effort to sustain community interest and generate leads, Wood’s long-time friend, Michelle Roy-Brock, is distributing bumper stickers featuring Wood’s image and essential information about his case. Roy-Brock has printed 100 stickers and plans to sell them, with proceeds going to assist Wood’s family in their ongoing efforts to find him. “I don’t want people to forget his story,” Roy-Brock stated. “A big part of this is just ensuring that his face doesn’t get lost in this view of posts that we see every day.”
Community Engagement and Support
The campaign has aimed to engage the community of Kitchener and the broader Ontario region. Roy-Brock emphasizes the importance of spreading awareness as people travel across the province. “I have family in Ontario that have been sharing in Ottawa, so I’m trying to get the message spread across Ontario as much as possible, but also all across Canada,” she explained. The funds raised will help the Wood family travel back and forth from their home in Nova Scotia, where they currently reside.
Eli Wood’s mother, Cindy Wood Amero, has also been actively raising awareness through social media. In her posts, she has expressed gratitude for the support received from strangers and the community at large. “It takes a village, and it’s nice to see Eli’s village growing,” she noted, urging people to continue sharing information about her son.
Despite the heightened community efforts, there have been no new updates from the Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS). In an email to local news outlets, the WRPS confirmed that the investigation into Wood’s disappearance remains active but offered no additional details. They emphasized the importance of maintaining the investigation’s integrity while assuring the public that they are in regular communication with Wood’s family.
Family’s Plea for Information
The WRPS has stated that they suspect foul play in the case, especially given the circumstances surrounding the fire at Wood’s home. In a public statement, the police acknowledged the significant public interest and reiterated their commitment to the case. “When it is appropriate and responsible to do so, additional details and updates will be released publicly,” the statement said.
Eli Wood’s family has been vocal about the emotional toll of the situation. In a heartfelt message, they expressed their appreciation for the community’s kindness during this challenging time. “The time since Eli’s disappearance has been overwhelming for us, but your kindness has brought us strength,” they said, while also urging the public to refrain from sharing unverified information online, which could complicate the ongoing investigation.
As the search for Eli Wood continues, his family remains hopeful and resilient. Cindy Wood Amero implores the community to remain vigilant. “Please, everyone, continue praying, sharing Eli, and keeping your eyes and ears open. We need to find Eli.”
The bumper sticker campaign represents a grassroots effort aimed at ensuring that the search for Eli Wood does not fade from public consciousness. With the community’s support, there is a renewed sense of hope that the mystery surrounding his disappearance can be solved.
