Aqueduct Foundation Boosts School Lunch Program with $5,000 Donation

Cranbrook schools have received a significant enhancement to their school lunch program through a donation from the Aqueduct Foundation. On March 5, 2024, Secretary Treasurer Nick Taylor accepted a contribution of $5,000 on behalf of School District No. 5 (Southeast Kootenay). This funding aims to provide healthy and nutritious meals for students throughout the school day.
The donation stems from the Rick and Marg Jensen Family Foundation, which has a longstanding commitment to supporting educational initiatives in the community. The funds will be allocated specifically to improve the availability of meals for students who might otherwise face food insecurity.
Mr. Taylor expressed his appreciation for the financial support, highlighting the importance of community partnerships in enhancing student well-being and academic success. He stated, “This generous contribution will ensure that more students can access vital nutrition, which is essential for their learning and development.”
The School District has been actively working to address food insecurity among students. With this donation, officials hope to expand the reach of the lunch program, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to receive a balanced meal during school hours.
Community support, such as the contribution from the Rick and Marg Jensen Family Foundation, plays a crucial role in the district’s efforts to provide essential services to students and their families. The district extends its heartfelt thanks for this generous support, which will make a significant difference in the lives of many children in Cranbrook.
As the school lunch program continues to evolve, the Aqueduct Foundation and its partners remain committed to fostering a healthier learning environment for students. This initiative exemplifies how local organizations can come together to create positive change in their communities.
