Angelbliss Baby Bassinet Recalled Over Suffocation Risk
The Angelbliss Baby Bassinet Bedside Crib has been recalled due to significant safety concerns regarding suffocation and entrapment risks. Health Canada announced the recall after identifying that the incline angle of the sleep platform exceeds the country’s regulations for cribs and bassinets.
The issue stems from the product’s sleep surface, which has an incline greater than 7 degrees. This design flaw raises the risk of entrapment and suffocation for infants using the crib. This portable crib is commonly utilized for naps or overnight stays as it attaches securely to the side of a bed.
Safety Advisory and Consumer Action
Health Canada is urging consumers who have purchased the Angelbliss Baby Bassinet to cease use immediately. Those in possession of the product should ensure it is disposed of safely to prevent any future use. The official product name includes features such as a storage basket and wheels for easy mobility.
According to Health Canada, “the safest place for a baby to sleep is on their back on a firm, flat surface intended for sleep.” This guidance is crucial to safeguarding infant health and well-being.
The product was sold in Canada through Liuzihao on Amazon.ca, which has since removed the listing from its site. Reports indicate that approximately 19 units of the affected product were sold before the recall. Health Canada has also reached out to Liuzihao, the distributor based in China, to address the situation.
Current Status and Further Information
As of now, no injuries associated with this bassinet have been reported to Health Canada. For those seeking additional information on safe sleep practices for infants, the agency provides resources on creating a safe sleep environment. Consumers can access this information on the official Health Canada website.
This recall serves as a crucial reminder for parents and caregivers to prioritize infant safety when choosing sleep products. Continued vigilance and adherence to safety guidelines can help prevent potential hazards in the home.
