Algoma Community Pantry Expands Hours and Hosts Back-to-School Event

The **Algoma Community Pantry** has announced an extension of its operating hours, a change aimed at better serving the local community. Starting on **September 2, 2025**, the Pantry will welcome visitors Monday through Saturday from **11 a.m. to 7 p.m.** In addition, the Food Bank will be available from **11 a.m. to 4 p.m.** This initiative aligns with the pantry’s mission to enhance accessibility for families and individuals in need.

“We are proud to extend our hours to make our services more accessible to the people who need them most,” said **Wendy Gutcher**, Founder of the Algoma Community Pantry. “This is not just about providing food—it’s about creating a welcoming space where everyone feels supported.”
The Algoma Community Pantry plays a vital role in the **Sault Ste. Marie** area, offering food support, building community connections, and providing hope during challenging times. The organization emphasizes its philosophy of being a “**hand up, not a hand out**,” reinforcing its commitment to empowering individuals and families rather than merely offering temporary assistance.
Event Details and Community Impact
The Back-to-School Splash event will take place at the **Algoma Community Pantry**, located at **281 North Street, Sault Ste. Marie**. Families, friends, and neighbours are invited to participate in the event, which aims to create a festive atmosphere while also providing essential resources for those preparing for the upcoming school year.
This initiative not only marks a new chapter for the pantry but also highlights the importance of community support in addressing food insecurity. By extending its hours and hosting events like the Back-to-School Splash, the Algoma Community Pantry is solidifying its role as a crucial resource for individuals and families facing difficult circumstances.
The new hours and the upcoming event reflect the pantry’s dedication to ensuring that everyone in the community has access to the support they need. The extended hours are expected to increase foot traffic and enhance the pantry’s ability to serve those who rely on its services.
As the **Algoma Community Pantry** embarks on this new phase, it stands as a beacon of hope and support for the community, inviting all to join in its mission of providing aid and fostering connections.
