Hippocrates Medical Clinic to Host Prescription Drug Take-Back Day
Hippocrates Medical Clinic is set to hold a prescription drug take-back event on October 4, 2023, from 9 a.m. to noon. This initiative, organized in collaboration with local leaders and community organizations, aims to facilitate the safe disposal of unused or expired medications. The clinic is located at 606 E. Court St. in Kankakee, Illinois.
The event will take place in the parking lot of Hippocrates Medical Clinic, featuring a drive-thru disposal station for added convenience. Participants will have the opportunity to dispose of a variety of items, including prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, supplements, and pet medications. The primary goal is to mitigate the risks associated with substance misuse and ensure environmentally responsible disposal of these products.
Local officials, including State Senator Patrick Joyce, State Representative Jackie Haas, Alderwoman Cherry Malone-Marshall, and Alderman Michael Prude, are actively supporting this initiative, alongside the Women’s Club of Kankakee. The event is free and encourages individuals to clean out their medicine cabinets, addressing rising concerns related to opioid misuse and broader substance abuse issues.
This take-back event is part of a continuing effort to promote public safety, mental health, and overall wellness within the Kankakee community. By providing a secure means for disposal, organizers hope to prevent medications from falling into the wrong hands.
For further information or inquiries regarding the event, individuals can contact Hippocrates Medical Clinic at 815-216-3446. This initiative underscores the importance of responsible medication management and community health awareness.
