Young Students Share Heartfelt Wishes in Letters to Santa
As the festive season approaches, students from James Kennedy Elementary have taken the opportunity to express their Christmas wishes in a series of heartfelt letters to Santa Claus. The letters, written by children in Grade 3, showcase a delightful blend of innocence, creativity, and holiday spirit. The project is set to be published on December 25 and 26, 2025, allowing families to share in the joy of their children’s aspirations.
In their letters, students posed various questions to Santa, reflecting their curiosity about life at the North Pole. Many asked about the reindeer, with inquiries such as, “How old are the reindeer?” and “Do they eat carrots?” For instance, Addie, aged eight, humorously asked, “Why do you like cookies so much?” while also sharing her own Christmas wishes, which included a book, some money, and a 3D printer repair.
Another student, Aila, also eight years old, expressed her hopes for “slime” and a “3D printed dragon.” The letters are filled with candid glimpses into the children’s lives, including their contributions at home. Alexander (Zander) mentioned helping with chores such as making beds and taking care of pets, showing a sense of responsibility at such a young age.
The children’s letters are not only a testament to their wishes but also highlight their efforts in assisting their families throughout the year. Anjali wrote about her role in decorating the Christmas tree, showcasing the pride they take in their contributions. Her wish list included a trampoline and a gymnastics bar, adding to the festive cheer.
Each letter is characterized by a unique tone, reflecting the individual personalities of the young writers. Charlie expressed his desire for an American Girl doll, while Hannah wanted a video game called *Super Smash Bros*. The letters also reveal their understanding of the holiday spirit, with several students expressing gratitude alongside their wishes.
One letter stood out with a philosophical touch, as Kasra pondered, “Why do you like cookies so much?” This question encapsulates the innocence and wonder that defines childhood, especially during the Christmas season.
The letters also serve as a reminder of the importance of kindness and generosity. Jaden shared that he helps with dishes and tree decorating, emphasizing the values of sharing and caring that are often highlighted during the holiday season.
The project, organized by the school’s teachers, aims to engage students in creative writing while fostering a connection to the traditions of Christmas. The letters will be published to celebrate the children’s voices and their excitement for the holiday.
As families prepare for the celebrations, these letters remind us of the joy and hope that children bring during this festive time. The heartfelt wishes from the students of James Kennedy Elementary not only reflect their desires but also highlight the spirit of community and togetherness that is central to Christmas.
