Students Pack Christmas Hampers for 1,710 Families in Brandon
On Tuesday afternoon, students from Green Acres School participated in a community initiative by packing bags of candy for Christmas hampers at the Brandon-Westman Christmas Cheer Registry. This year, the program has seen a notable increase in demand, with 1,710 families in Brandon registering for assistance, up from 1,551 families last year.
The Christmas Cheer Registry is seeking nearly 200 individuals and groups to adopt families in need, providing hampers that align with the Registry’s offerings. Those interested in supporting this initiative can sign up through the Brandon-Westman Christmas Cheer website, which provides a list of items needed to fill the hampers.
Volunteers are also essential to the effort, as the registry is looking for people to deliver hampers throughout the city on December 17 and 18, 2023. The packing of hampers began on November 27, 2023, highlighting the community’s commitment to ensuring that families have a joyful holiday season.
Brandon Mayor Jeff Fawcett was also present during the packing event, lending a hand alongside community members like Samantha Falloon. Their involvement underscores the importance of local support in making the Christmas Cheer initiative a success.
The Brandon-Westman Christmas Cheer Registry has become a vital resource for families facing financial hardships during the holiday season. By adopting families and contributing to the hampers, community members can help spread joy and ensure that everyone experiences the spirit of Christmas.
For more information on how to get involved, individuals can visit the Brandon-Westman Christmas Cheer website, where they can find details on adopting a family and volunteering for hamper deliveries.
