Prairie Rose Public Schools (PRPS) is poised for a productive year in 2026, aiming to build on its academic successes and enhance student learning experiences. Following a busy 2025, which included the introduction of new board members due to elections, Superintendent Reagan Weeks expressed optimism about the dedication exhibited by educators and staff across the school division.

“Our teachers have continued to do really wonderful work with students,” said Weeks. “We’ve seen a lot of academic growth and a strong commitment to student success.” This commitment is particularly evident in the ongoing development of the Yuill School of Agriculture, a new facility that will connect agricultural programs, including AgPro and the Irvine Agricultural Discovery Centre, enabling students to pursue agricultural studies through high school.

Innovative Educational Strategies and Programs

A significant focus for PRPS has been the implementation of “vertical curriculum mapping.” This approach encourages collaboration among teachers across different grade levels, ensuring that students acquire the necessary skills to thrive in their educational journey. “Teachers have been really excited about the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues teaching the same subjects, connecting with both the grade below and the grade above,” Weeks noted.

Additionally, PRPS has made strides with its new before- and after-school care program based at Eagle Butte High School. Looking ahead, the school division plans to introduce a junior high program tailored for students interested in aviation, marking an early engagement with this field.

As part of its continuous improvement efforts, PRPS is also focused on enhancing numeracy education. “We’re looking to have our teachers pilot the new curriculum and provide feedback to ensure they have the resources they need,” Weeks explained. This initiative aligns with the “Ignite Minds” segment of PRPS’s strategic priorities, which emphasizes fostering connections and positive childhood experiences.

Emphasis on Leadership and Public Speaking

Another key aspect of PRPS’s strategy involves integrating leadership and public speaking components into all micro school programming. “We hear about the positive impact of programs like 4-H on student confidence, their ability to communicate with adults, and share information effectively,” said Weeks. This initiative aims to empower students with essential life skills that extend beyond the classroom.

Overall, PRPS is enthusiastic about the upcoming year, anticipating further academic growth and a strengthened commitment to student success. With a clear vision for 2026, the school division looks forward to fostering an enriching educational environment for all its students.
