Peru Public Library Unveils Exciting November Events for All Ages
The Peru Public Library, located at 1409 11th St., is set to host a variety of engaging events and programs throughout November, catering to children, teens, and adults. These activities aim to foster community engagement and provide educational opportunities tailored to different age groups.
Family-Friendly Activities
The month kicks off with the **Tween Scene** on **November 4** at 18:00. This program invites children aged nine to eleven to explore the cultural significance of **Día de los Muertos** through games and crafts. Registration is required, and interested participants can secure their spots by calling **815-223-0229**.
On **November 15** at 13:00, the **Kids STEM Lab** will feature fall-themed science experiments, designed for children aged five to eight. This interactive lab encourages young minds to engage with science in a fun and hands-on way. Again, registration is essential.
Another exciting opportunity for creativity arises on **November 18** at 18:00 with **Brick Builders**, an event where children can construct their own Lego creations. This program is open to all young builders.
For the youngest attendees, **Toddler Time** on **November 28** at 10:00 will offer tactile explorative play with fall sensory bins, aimed at children aged one to four. Registration is required.
The library also offers ongoing programs such as **Books and Babies**, held every Monday at **09:30** for infants aged six weeks to 23 months. This program features stories, songs, and rhymes to stimulate early literacy. Additionally, **Thursday Tots** at the same time on Thursdays provides crafts and songs for children aged two to four, requiring registration as well.
Teen and Adult Engagement
Teens can look forward to the **Teen Game Night** on **November 7** from 18:30 to 20:30. Participants in sixth to twelfth grades can compete in a gaming tournament for prizes while enjoying snacks.
Moreover, the **Anime and Manga Club** will meet on **November 14** from 15:30 to 16:45 in the library’s lower-level meeting room. This gathering invites teens to discuss their favorite series, discover new titles, and connect with fellow fans, complemented by snacks.
For adults, **Wellness Wednesday** on **November 5** at 11:30 will offer free health screenings, including blood glucose, blood pressure, and pulse oxygen levels. Participants are advised to fast for eight to twelve hours before the blood glucose tests. Attendees will also learn about personalized home care services.
Following that, the **Medicare Education Program** on **November 6** at 18:00 will provide valuable information on healthcare decisions and Medicare options, presented by employees from **Keystone Retirement Solutions**.
Lastly, adults can unwind with a **Movie Matinee** on **November 17** from 13:00 to 15:00, featuring a screening open to all.
