North Island Menopause Conference Returns to Campbell River

The second annual North Island Menopause Conference is set to take place on November 8, 2023, at the Campbell River Community Centre. This full-day event aims to provide women with essential information and support as they navigate the complexities of menopause. Building on the success of last year’s inaugural conference, this year’s event promises a lineup of leading experts in women’s midlife health and an inclusive atmosphere for connection and learning.
“This event is all about making sure women find the support and connection they need to navigate this complex stage of life,” said Kathy Grayson, founder and executive director. She highlighted the importance of providing accurate information and fostering community among women experiencing similar transitions.
Expert Insights and Engaging Workshops
The conference will feature Shirley Weir as the keynote speaker. Weir, who is the author and founder of Menopause Chicks, has been a prominent advocate for women’s health, working to eliminate stigma and disseminate credible information about menopause for over a decade. Other notable speakers include Tanya Kessling, a registered physiotherapist and owner of Mend Bodyworks in Campbell River; Elisabeth Crisci, an award-winning medical doctor and director of Pacifica MD in Qualicum Beach; and Erin Roman, a registered dietitian focusing on the links between nutrition and mental health.
The conference will include a variety of formats, featuring both large talks and smaller, interactive workshops. Topics will cover a wide range of issues such as sleep disturbances, hormone therapy, exercise and neuroscience, incontinence, and nutrition. Participants can tailor their experience by choosing sessions that align with their individual needs and interests.
Additional Opportunities and Participation
In addition to the informative sessions, the conference will host booths showcasing various services and products relevant to midlife health. Attendees will have opportunities to engage with speakers during informal discussions throughout the day.
Tickets for the event are priced at $75. Options include attending in person or accessing an online stream of select presentations, which will be available live and for a limited time afterward. Organizers are actively seeking additional sponsors and vendors to enhance the event’s offerings. Those interested in participating can obtain more information by emailing [email protected].
The North Island Menopause Conference not only serves as a platform for education but also aims to create a supportive community for women navigating this significant life transition.
