New Schools Break Ground in Simcoe County to Meet Growing Needs
Construction has officially begun on two new elementary schools in Simcoe County, designed to accommodate the region’s rapidly expanding communities. The foundations have been laid for the new Tottenham Catholic Elementary School on Martin Trail and the Bradford Catholic Elementary School on Rogers Trail in Bradford.
Both schools, part of the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board (SMCDSB), represent a significant investment of $23 million each. They will feature identical designs, each with the capacity to enroll 516 students. Additionally, both schools will include three-room child care centres, providing 49 spaces for early childhood education.
Meeting Community Demand
Officials from the SMCDSB highlighted that Bradford and Tottenham are among the fastest-growing areas served by the Catholic board. The addition of these schools is intended to meet the increasing demand for educational facilities in these communities.
With construction actively underway, both schools are on track to open their doors to students in the upcoming academic year, specifically in fall 2024. This initiative reflects the board’s commitment to enhancing educational infrastructure in response to population growth, ensuring that families have access to quality schooling options.
As the region continues to develop, local officials remain optimistic that these new facilities will play a crucial role in supporting the educational needs of residents in Simcoe County.
