Kingston Schools Secure After Break-In Nearby Prompting Police Response
Three schools in Kingston were temporarily placed under a hold and secure protocol on March 25, 2024, following a reported break and enter in the vicinity of Alfred Crescent and Barbara Avenue in the Kingscourt neighbourhood. This precautionary measure was implemented to ensure the safety of students and staff while law enforcement conducted a thorough search of the area.
The Kingston Police received notification of the break and enter at approximately 10:15 a.m. Upon their arrival, officers discovered that the two suspects had already fled the scene on foot. In response, Kingston Secondary School, Regiopolis Notre-Dame Catholic High School, and Molly Brant Elementary School were placed in a hold and secure status, effectively restricting movement within the schools.
As the situation developed, police actively searched the area to locate the suspects. The hold and secure status for the schools served as a protective measure, ensuring that students remained safe until the situation was resolved.
According to a statement from the Kingston Police, the investigation is ongoing, although the hold and secure was lifted later in the day. Authorities confirmed that there is currently no threat to the students or local residents.
This incident highlights the importance of swift police response in ensuring community safety, particularly in school environments. Parents and guardians can rest assured that their children’s safety remains a top priority for both law enforcement and educational institutions in Kingston.
The Kingston Police continue to urge anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward, as the search for the suspects remains active. They can be contacted directly or through local crime reporting channels.
