Horizon School Division Elects New Leadership for 2024
Horizon School Division No. 205 has elected new leadership for the upcoming year, appointing Linda Mattock as board chair and Mark Fedak as vice-chair. The decisions were made during the division’s annual organizational meeting held in Humboldt, Saskatchewan.
During the meeting, Mattock expressed her gratitude to her fellow trustees for their support. “I’m truly grateful to my fellow trustees for their support. It is an honour to serve as board chair alongside such a dedicated group of leaders,” she stated. She emphasized the board’s commitment to the success and well-being of students, families, and staff within the Horizon community.
Mattock has been a trustee representing Subdivision 2, which includes schools in Annaheim, Humboldt, Lake Lenore, Middle Lake, and St. Brieux, since 2016. Her experience in the role positions her well to lead the board in its ongoing initiatives.
Fedak also conveyed appreciation for the trust placed in him by the board. “I appreciate the trust the board has placed in me,” he noted. “I’m looking forward to continuing our work to support safe, caring learning environments and positive outcomes for every student in Horizon.” He has served as a trustee for Subdivision 4, representing schools in Drake, Englefeld, Lanigan, Muenster, and Watson, since 2016.
The Horizon School Division Board of Education consists of 14 publicly elected trustees who represent 14 subdivisions. The organizational meeting is mandated under the Education Act, 1995, allowing the board to elect table officers and address governance matters, including indemnity rates and incidental expenses.
The board extended its appreciation to outgoing chair Garth Anderson for his leadership throughout the past year. His contributions have helped shape the division’s direction and priorities.
As the new leadership steps into their roles, they are poised to focus on the critical issues affecting students and families in the Horizon School Division, ensuring that progress continues throughout the academic year.
