Enroll Now: Free GED and ESL Classes at Sauk Valley Community College
Sauk Valley Community College (SVCC) is now accepting enrollments for its free Adult Education programs, including GED and English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, set to commence on January 20, 2024. These initiatives aim to assist adults in achieving their educational and professional aspirations.
The GED program prepares participants to successfully complete the four subject tests: language arts, math, social studies, and science. Designed for adults who seek to earn their high school equivalency diploma, the classes foster academic skills while enhancing confidence. Many graduates of this program move on to pursue college courses, vocational training, or career opportunities that may have previously seemed unattainable.
ESL classes cater to adults aiming to improve their English proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The curriculum emphasizes practical communication skills and vocabulary essential for everyday interactions in work, school, and community settings. Classes are available for all proficiency levels, ensuring a supportive environment for both beginners and advanced learners.
SVCC is particularly encouraging new enrollments for the evening ESL class hosted at the Dixon YMCA. To facilitate the registration process, several orientation sessions will take place in January before classes begin.
Both the GED and ESL programs are entirely free, presenting an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to enhance their education and personal development. Interested participants can find more information or register for an upcoming orientation by visiting svcc.edu/adulted or calling 815-835-6312.
At Sauk Valley Community College, the commitment to fostering educational growth is evident. The college stands ready to support adults in opening new doors and building stronger futures.
