Elwood School District 203 Appoints Dr. Matt Swick as New Superintendent
The Elwood Community Consolidated School District 203 has appointed Dr. Matt Swick as its new superintendent, effective following the retirement of Tim Page on June 30, 2026. This decision was finalized during the board meeting held on December 9, 2023, where the board expressed confidence in Swick’s ability to lead the district.
Dr. Swick currently holds the position of assistant superintendent at Wilmington School District 209U. In a statement, he expressed gratitude for the opportunity, stating, “I am truly humbled and honored by the opportunity to serve the students, families, and staff of Elwood as the next superintendent.” He emphasized his excitement to embark on this new chapter of his career in a community that holds personal significance, as his wife, Melissa, and her brothers attended school in Elwood during their childhood.
Swick’s connection to Elwood extends beyond education; he has spent considerable time in the area visiting his wife’s family. He acknowledged his respect for the community, highlighting the importance of local ties in his new role.
Through his experience at District 209U, Swick has collaborated with District 203 on various initiatives. Notably, the districts have partnered in advocacy for federal funding, specifically the federal Impact Aid funds. These funds are allocated to both districts due to the federal government’s ownership of the Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie and the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Swick remarked on the importance of this collaboration, stating, “I look forward to continuing to work together while serving in this new role as Superintendent of Elwood School.”
The transition to Dr. Swick’s leadership marks a new era for Elwood School District 203. With a focus on community values and educational excellence, he is poised to foster growth and support for both students and staff in the years ahead.
