Discover What’s Open and Closed This Labour Day Weekend
As the summer season draws to a close, the Labour Day long weekend offers a final opportunity for leisure and celebration in Toronto. On Monday, September 1, various attractions, shopping venues, and services will have different operational hours, providing residents and visitors with options to enjoy their time off.
Attractions and Events
Numerous popular attractions in Toronto will be open, allowing families and groups to partake in a variety of activities. The Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) will welcome visitors from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., while the Aga Khan Museum extends its hours from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. For thrill-seekers, Canada’s Wonderland will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Splash Works will operate between 11:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Other attractions include the Toronto Zoo, which opens at 9:30 a.m. and closes at 7 p.m., and the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM), available from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.. Visitors can also explore the CN Tower from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., making it an ideal spot for panoramic views of the city.
Shopping and Transit
When it comes to shopping, many malls will remain closed, but some will have reduced hours. Notably, Eaton Centre will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Markville will operate from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Yorkdale will have closed shops, but select restaurants and the Cineplex will still welcome patrons.
Public transit will also see adjustments. The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) will run a holiday schedule, while GO Transit will operate on a Saturday schedule, providing convenient options for those looking to travel around the city.
Grocery stores will likely be closed, but a few may have limited hours. For pharmacy needs, some Shoppers Drug Mart and Rexall locations are expected to remain open, though checking individual store hours is advisable.
On the governmental side, banks and offices will be closed, with no mail delivery scheduled for the day. Additionally, all branches of the Toronto Public Library will not operate on both Sunday and Monday, marking a complete closure for library services.
This Labour Day weekend offers a mix of open attractions and services, making it a perfect time for local residents and visitors to enjoy the last vestiges of summer. As the city gears up for the back-to-school season, the long weekend stands as a reminder to take advantage of leisure activities before autumn arrives.
