Children Share Heartfelt Letters to Santa from James Kennedy Elementary
Every year, students from James Kennedy Elementary in Canada engage in a heartwarming tradition by penning letters to Santa Claus. This year, the letters reflect a blend of childhood wonder, personal achievements, and Christmas wishes, showcasing the innocence and creativity of children aged eight.
The young authors express their curiosity about Santa and the North Pole. For instance, Addie wonders, “Why do you like cookies so much?” while Aila asks if Mrs. Claus makes cookies and how old the reindeer are. Their questions highlight not only their excitement for the holiday but also their desire to learn more about Santa’s world.
Many of the letters reveal how the students have been helping their families throughout the year. Anjali proudly notes her contributions in decorating the Christmas tree and doing household chores, such as washing dishes. Similarly, Jaden mentions assisting his parents with various tasks, including making his bed and helping with the decorations. This spirit of cooperation among family members is a recurring theme.
The children’s Christmas lists are as diverse as their personalities. Charlie wishes for an American Girl doll, while Will expresses a desire for a Plexus ball. Other requests include 3D printers, slime, and even a trampoline. The letters reflect a mix of traditional toys and modern tech, indicating how children’s interests have evolved over time.
Some letters also touch on the children’s relationships with their siblings. Devansh acknowledges that while he sometimes fights with his brother, they always make up, showcasing the typical dynamics of sibling relationships. Bella demonstrates empathy by helping her sick sister, further illustrating the kindness often found in young children.
The letters are not just about requests. The students express their feelings towards Santa and his helpers. They inquire about the well-being of the reindeer, ask how many there are, and share their hopes for a wonderful Christmas. Sloane asks how Santa’s winter is going and what his favorite cookie is, which adds a light-hearted touch to the correspondence.
This year, the project culminates in a publication scheduled for December 25 and 26, 2025, giving the community the chance to read the heartfelt messages from the students. The initiative offers a glimpse into the minds of children, capturing their hopes, dreams, and the joy of the holiday season.
The Letters to Santa project at James Kennedy Elementary not only fosters a sense of community but also emphasizes the importance of kindness and gratitude among children. As the holiday season approaches, these letters remind us of the genuine spirit of Christmas through the eyes of children.
