Camosun College Welcomes Richard Stride as New Provost
Camosun College has appointed Richard Stride as its new provost and academic vice-president, effective immediately. The announcement marks a significant leadership change at the institution, which serves students in British Columbia. Stride brings extensive experience in higher education, having previously held senior roles at various academic institutions.
In his new role, Stride will oversee the college’s academic programs and faculty development, aiming to enhance educational offerings. His appointment comes during a time when Camosun is focused on improving student engagement and academic excellence. September 2023 marks the beginning of an important academic year for the college, and Stride’s leadership is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping its future.
Alongside this leadership change, students from the nearby Royal Roads University (RRU) will benefit from new perks in Langford. As part of a collaborative initiative, RRU students can access amenities and services at Camosun College, fostering an environment of cooperation between the two educational institutions. This partnership not only enhances the student experience but also strengthens community ties within the region.
The collaboration reflects a growing trend among colleges and universities to create more inclusive and supportive educational environments. By sharing resources and opportunities, both Camosun College and Royal Roads University aim to provide their students with a broader range of experiences and support systems that will benefit them academically and socially.
As Camosun College welcomes Richard Stride, the institution is poised for a new chapter that prioritizes academic growth and student collaboration. The combination of strong leadership and community partnership sets a promising tone for the future of education in British Columbia.
