Brandon University and Assiniboine College Announce Holiday Schedules
The final exams for the fall semester at Brandon University conclude today, marking the end of the academic term. Following the exams, the university will begin its holiday break, which starts on December 22, 2025, and runs until January 5, 2026, when the institution reopens for winter orientation.
On the reopening date, some classes within the Faculty of Education will commence, while most other courses will officially begin on January 6. Throughout the holiday season, the Healthy Living Centre will remain operational, although it will close on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day. Limited hours will be observed on other days, and further details can be found at HealthyLivingCentre.ca.
The Bobcat Athletics teams are currently on break, with competitive play in Canada West scheduled to resume in January. The basketball teams will take to the court first, facing the University of Winnipeg Wesmen in home games on January 8 and January 9 at the Healthy Living Centre.
Assiniboine College Plans Community Events
In related news, Assiniboine College is hosting a series of events aimed at engaging the community and supporting students. On January 25, 2026, the college invites attendees to start their Wednesday at Manitoba Ag Days with a breakfast event that raises funds for financial awards aimed at students in agricultural programs. Tickets for this breakfast can be purchased through the college’s website at assiniboine.net/events.
Additionally, alumni are encouraged to reconnect during the Ag Mixer, which is also part of Manitoba Ag Days, taking place on January 21. While registration is not mandatory, it is recommended that interested individuals email [email protected] to confirm attendance.
Assiniboine College will observe a closure from noon on December 24 until January 2, 2026. The college looks forward to welcoming students back in the new year and wishes everyone happy holidays.
As educational institutions navigate the complexities of the holiday season, both Brandon University and Assiniboine College continue to prioritize their students’ experiences and community engagement, ensuring a supportive environment as the new year approaches.
