Belle River District High School (BRDHS) has made a strong impact this winter by hosting a variety of events that brought together current students, prospective students, and the community. These initiatives not only fostered school spirit but also provided opportunities for local families to engage with the school.

One of the highlights was the community skate held on December 18, where current students participated at the Atlas Tube Recreation Centre. Following the skate, the Nobles boys hockey team faced off against the Erie Migrations Coyotes in their annual Winter Warmth charity hockey game. This popular event encouraged community members and future Nobles to attend, with attendees asked to bring warm clothing and canned goods to support families in need.

The school also hosted a “Noble for a Day” initiative on November 28 and December 4, allowing local elementary school students to experience life as a Noble. Aleena Holmes, a student from Lakeshore Discovery School, remarked, “Grade 9 day was really fun. I got to meet lots of teachers and students.” Participants were able to select three classes to attend, including Technological Design, where they created Noble stickers, and Computer Technologies, where they worked with microbits. The excitement of this day marked a significant moment for both the future students and the school.

In addition to these activities, BRDHS organized the annual Noble Holiday Trolley on December 3. The band, drama students, and dance team visited Centennial Central Public School, Lakeshore Discovery School, and Belle River Public School to perform seasonal music, present a play about kindness and sharing, and showcase their annual Christmas dance. Music teacher and band director, Mr. Walstedt, expressed the joy of the event, stating, “The excitement from the crowd was contagious and a great time was had by all.” This tradition, which began in 2017, continues to spread holiday cheer among younger students.

On November 25, BRDHS opened its doors for the Grade 9 Open House, welcoming future students and their families. The event featured activities and trivia in the gym, allowing current students to engage with prospective classmates. Guidance department head Ms. Moison commented on the success of the event, noting, “The event captured the genuine sense of community and care that makes Belle River High School an amazing place to learn and grow.” Parents had the opportunity to explore the school and speak with teachers about various classes and programs available at BRDHS.

With such an enthusiastic start to the winter season, it is evident that the future looks bright for every new member of the Noble family. The commitment to community engagement and student experience is a cornerstone of Belle River District High School’s mission, ensuring that every student feels welcomed and valued.
