Lethbridge County Engages Benchmark for Property Assessments
Lethbridge County has announced a significant shift in its assessment services by hiring an external provider, Benchmark Assessment Consultants Inc. This decision follows the retirement of the County’s longtime assessor and aims to maintain compliance with the Municipal Government Act. The change is designed to ensure that property assessments continue to meet the necessary legal standards.
Benchmark Assessment Consultants Inc., recognized as the largest assessment firm in southern Alberta, was selected after a competitive Request for Proposal process. The firm currently provides services to 48 municipalities across the province, indicating its extensive experience and capability in handling such responsibilities.
The staff at Benchmark have already commenced on-site assessment activities throughout Lethbridge County. These include property inspections related to new developments and building permits, annual re-inspections, and follow-ups on assessment complaints. As a result of this transition, property owners in Lethbridge County can expect to see Benchmark assessors actively engaged in these tasks.
All assessors from Benchmark will carry visible identification to clearly distinguish themselves during their assessments. Additionally, they will be using vehicles marked with both the Benchmark and Lethbridge County logos, adding a layer of assurance for property owners regarding the legitimacy of their visits.
Residents with questions regarding assessments can direct their inquiries to [email protected] or call 403.381.0525. For further details on property assessments and the related processes in Lethbridge County, individuals are encouraged to visit the official website at https://lethcounty.ca/p/assessment.
This change marks a new chapter for Lethbridge County’s assessment practices, emphasizing a commitment to transparency and compliance. As the county adapts to this new model, it aims to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of property assessments for its residents.
