Kane County has announced the opening of applications for the 2026 Grand Victoria Riverboat Fund, which offers nearly $832,000 to support projects aimed at improving the quality of life in the region. According to a recent news release from the Kane County Development and Community Services Department, eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations and local government entities. The funding is intended to address community needs and foster lasting impact.

Applications for a share of the $831,687 in available grant funding must be submitted via the county’s online portal, ZoomGrants. The deadline for applications is set for midnight on March 5, 2026. Each year, the Grand Victoria Riverboat Fund plays a crucial role in financing initiatives that focus on education, environmental stewardship, and economic development.

Since the inception of the program in 1997, Kane County has received over $175.7 million in revenue from the Grand Victoria Casino. This funding has been vital in supporting various projects across the county. Although annual revenue peaked at more than $12 million in 2002, the county anticipates a revenue of $4.89 million for 2026.

In 2025, the Kane County Board allocated nearly $1.1 million to 26 projects, demonstrating the fund’s impact on local communities. Significant grants included $51,244 for tree revitalization efforts at Plowman’s Park for the Big Rock Plowing Match Association and $61,832 in two separate grants for the Community Crisis Center in Elgin, designated for flooring and new kitchen appliances.

Further allocations from the 2025 funding included $72,266 to Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley for the acquisition of an operations and outreach center and $79,286 to the Northern Illinois Food Bank for milling and resurfacing its parking lot. Additionally, the Kane County Board awarded over $3.4 million to internal applicants, which encompassed a wide range of services and support, including $50,000 for tuition reimbursement and $1.06 million to the Child Advocacy Center.

This funding initiative not only addresses immediate community needs but also fosters long-term growth and sustainability in Kane County. As the application deadline approaches, stakeholders are encouraged to consider how their projects can contribute to the enhancement of the community’s quality of life.
