City Plans Sale of Former Strip Club for Residential Development
The city has announced plans to sell the controversial property that once housed the Studio 10 and Dime Nightclub, with the aim of transforming it into a residential development. This decision marks a significant shift in the use of the site, which has garnered mixed reactions from local residents and officials.
Located in the downtown area, the former nightclub site has been identified as having considerable potential for new housing. City Council members believe that residential development could address the growing demand for housing in the region. The proposal aims to revitalize the area while providing modern living options for residents.
City officials have emphasized the importance of the sale in light of a housing shortage affecting many urban areas. According to city planning documents, the new residential project is expected to create approximately 150 housing units, including both affordable and market-rate options. The projected timeline for development is set to begin in 2025.
Local residents have expressed a variety of opinions regarding the site’s new direction. While some welcome the idea of residential development, others are concerned about potential increases in traffic and changes to the community’s character. City Council member Sarah Thompson noted that public consultations will be held to gather community feedback before finalizing any plans. “We want to ensure that the voices of the community are heard in this process,” she stated.
The former Studio 10 and Dime Nightclub has a storied history, having operated as a strip club for several years before closing in 2019. Its transformation into a residential space is seen by some as an opportunity to erase a controversial past and embrace a more family-friendly environment.
To move forward, the city will issue a request for proposals (RFP) from developers interested in purchasing the property and executing the residential project. The RFP is expected to be released in the coming months, with potential bidders invited to submit their plans for the site.
As development progresses, city officials will focus on ensuring that any new construction aligns with existing zoning regulations and community standards. The city aims to balance growth with maintaining the quality of life for its residents, a goal that will be critical in the upcoming discussions.
As the city embarks on this new chapter for the former nightclub property, it remains to be seen how the community will respond to the proposed changes. The outcome of public consultations and the subsequent development plans will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of this downtown site.
