Young Pedestrian Killed in Hamilton Collision on York Boulevard
A tragic incident occurred on the evening of March 25, 2024, when a 25-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle while walking near the intersection of York Boulevard and Old Guelph Road in Hamilton. Emergency services responded to the scene shortly before 21:00 local time, where they discovered the victim suffering from serious, life-threatening injuries. Despite immediate medical attention, he later succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
Hamilton police confirmed that the collision reconstruction unit is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. The section of York Boulevard between Old Guelph Road and Plains Road West was closed for several hours as investigators gathered evidence and assessed the scene.
Authorities indicated that the driver involved in the collision is cooperating with the investigation. As of Tuesday morning, charges against the driver remain pending. The police are appealing to the public for assistance, particularly urging potential witnesses or those with dash camera footage to come forward.
In a statement to CBC Hamilton, police emphasized the importance of gathering additional information to establish a clearer understanding of the events leading up to the fatal collision.
