Walnut Grove Students Host Charity Card Show for Sick Children
Students at Walnut Grove Secondary School will host a charity trading card show on March 7, 2024, aimed at supporting sick children. Organized by the school’s Marketing 11 class, the event will raise funds for the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.
The charity event will feature local vendors selling a variety of trading cards, art, and merchandise, including popular items such as Pokemon, Magic: The Gathering, and sports cards. Peter Curson, a business teacher at the school, emphasized the positive impact of the initiative, stating, “This event is a way for us to positively impact our community and kids’ lives.”
Families and collectors are encouraged to attend, with tickets priced at $5 at the door. Children aged 11 and under can enter for free. In addition to ticket sales, marketing students and volunteers will be collecting donations in the form of trading cards and related merchandise to benefit patients at the hospital.
All proceeds from admissions, donations, and sponsorships will be donated directly to the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. The event is recognized as an Independent Community Event, having received approval from the foundation.
Doors will open at 10:00 a.m. and the event will run until 4:00 p.m. at 8999 Walnut Grove Dr.. Those interested in vendor and sponsorship opportunities are encouraged to contact Curson at [email protected].
This charity card show represents a unique opportunity for the community to come together, enjoy a day of fun, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of children in need.
