Vaughan Police Arrest Suspect After Home Invasion and Crash

One suspect is in custody following a home invasion incident that occurred in Vaughan during the early hours of March 15, 2024. According to York Regional Police, the invasion took place near the intersection of Pine Valley Drive and Major Mackenzie Drive at approximately 1 a.m.

During the break-in, several valuable items were stolen, including jewelry and cash. At the time of the incident, one occupant was inside the residence, but fortunately, no injuries were reported. The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, which later crashed on an on-ramp to Highway 400 at Major Mackenzie Drive.

In the aftermath of the crash, the suspect attempted to escape on foot. However, law enforcement responded swiftly and apprehended the individual shortly thereafter. The on-ramp was closed for several hours to facilitate the investigation and conduct necessary repairs, but it has since been reopened to traffic.

This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding home invasions in the area, prompting local law enforcement to remind residents to enhance their security measures.
