Sparks Overcome Storm with Late Surge for 91-85 Victory
The Los Angeles Sparks mounted a thrilling comeback to defeat the Seattle Storm 91-85 on March 25, 2024. The Sparks secured the victory with a strong performance in the closing minutes, rallying from a five-point deficit to pull closer in the playoff race.
Dearica Hamby led the Sparks with an impressive 27 points and 11 rebounds. Rickea Jackson contributed significantly with 23 points, while Kelsey Plum and Rae Burrell added 14 and 11 points, respectively. The victory improved Los Angeles’ record to 19 wins and 20 losses, bringing them within 1.5 games of the Storm and Indiana for the final two playoff spots.
As the game neared its conclusion, Seattle held an 85-80 lead with just 2:47 left on the clock. Hamby, however, ignited an 11-0 run by scoring five points, while Jackson tallied four, allowing the Sparks to clinch the win. Seattle struggled in the final moments, missing their last five shots.

Despite their loss, Seattle’s Nneka Ogwumike shone with 21 points, hitting five three-pointers in the first half. Skylar Diggins also contributed 21 points, and Ezi Magbegor added 11.
Seattle started strong, leading 25-20 at the end of the first quarter. A 10-0 run fueled by Gabby Williams allowed the Storm to maintain their lead. Ogwumike’s three-pointers propelled the Storm to a 36-25 advantage early in the second quarter. They managed to extend their lead to 53-39 by halftime, thanks to a late three-pointer from Erica Wheeler.
The Sparks responded vigorously in the third quarter, shooting 12 for 17. Jackson’s buzzer-beater three-pointer cut Seattle’s lead to 73-68 heading into the final period, setting the stage for an intense finish.
