Keating Cross Road On-Ramp to Highway 17 Opens January 24
The southbound on-ramp from Keating Cross Road to Highway 17, also known as the Patricia Bay Highway, will open to traffic on January 24, 2026. This development marks a significant milestone in improving access to Greater Victoria, benefiting both residents and visitors traveling from the ferry terminal and the airport through the Saanich Peninsula.
While the on-ramp will be operational starting tomorrow, the area will continue to function as an active construction zone. The BC Ministry of Transportation and Transit has indicated that short-term closures will be necessary in April to finalize the project. Motorists are encouraged to adhere to posted signage and exercise caution while navigating the area.
In a news release issued today, the Ministry expressed gratitude to drivers and local residents for their patience throughout the duration of the Highway 17 Keating Cross Overpass Project. The project has involved significant work, including nighttime closures, to facilitate the construction of the new flyover and ramp.
This project is part of broader infrastructure improvements aimed at enhancing traffic flow and safety in the region. As the opening date approaches, authorities emphasize the importance of continued vigilance and compliance with traffic regulations to ensure a smooth transition for all road users.
The upcoming changes are expected to alleviate congestion, particularly during peak travel times, enhancing the overall experience for those commuting through this vital corridor.
