City of Prince Albert Urges Transit Riders to Check Updates Amid Snow
Snowfall over the past two days has disrupted transit schedules in the City of Prince Albert. The city is advising riders to check the transit app for the most current updates on service routes. According to a statement from the city, the combination of colder temperatures and snowfall has necessitated adjustments to transit operations.
Prince Albert Transit is making efforts to maintain service coverage, even as several routes have been temporarily suspended or shifted to hourly service. The city emphasized, “Colder temperatures and snowfall have impacted transit operations, resulting in some routes being taken offline or temporarily moved to hourly service. Prince Albert Transit is actively working to maintain coverage across the system, adjust routes where necessary, and share timely updates with the public.”
Forecasts indicate that temperatures will decline further towards the end of the week, accompanied by an expected three days of additional snowfall. On Tuesday, the predicted accumulation is between 5 to 10 cm, along with wind speeds of approximately 15 km/h.
For those relying on public transport, the situation has changed significantly. On Monday, the Core Express bus did not operate, while the all-day bus service has been adjusted to run on an hourly basis. Similarly, the rush hour buses are also operating hourly. The East Hill and West Flat routes are experiencing similar adjustments, with a temporary shift to hourly service.
Riders are encouraged to subscribe to Transit News for email notifications regarding service updates. Additionally, the Transit Live app allows users to track their buses in real time, providing an essential tool for navigating the changes resulting from the inclement weather.
As the week progresses, the city urges all transit users to stay informed and plan their journeys accordingly, ensuring safe and reliable travel despite the challenges posed by winter weather conditions.
