Calgary Trucker Charged in U.S. Child Exploitation Sting
A truck driver from Calgary faces serious allegations following his arrest in the United States on charges related to child exploitation. **Kelly Maier**, 41, was apprehended in **Idaho Falls, Idaho**, on **December 18, 2025**, after an undercover operation conducted by local law enforcement and the **Idaho Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit**. He is charged with one count of enticing a minor, according to **Idaho Attorney General Raul Labrador**.
The investigation began when a detective with the ICAC task force operated under a false identity representing a teenage girl. On **December 8, 2025**, a user claiming to be a 37-year-old man contacted the profile. Despite being informed that the girl was just 14 years old, the man continued to engage and introduced himself as a truck driver, even asking the girl to call him “daddy.”
Maier allegedly arranged to meet the girl at a gas station, where law enforcement officers arrested him. This operation underscores the ongoing collaboration between various law enforcement agencies aimed at protecting children from exploitation.
In a statement, Attorney General Labrador emphasized the importance of these partnerships, stating, “Thanks to the strong partnerships we’ve built with law enforcement across Idaho, individuals like this are being arrested for these terrible crimes against children and families.” He further noted that coordinated efforts lead to the removal of threats to children from the community.
A preliminary hearing for Maier is set to take place on **January 13, 2026**, in the **Bonneville County Magistrate Court**. The case has garnered attention as it highlights the critical work being done to combat child exploitation through online platforms.
Authorities encourage vigilance and cooperation among community members to report suspicious activities, reinforcing the message that such efforts are vital in protecting vulnerable populations.
