LEGO Unveils 3,600-Piece U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D for Fans
LEGO has announced the upcoming release of a meticulously designed model of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D, a tribute to the iconic starship from the beloved series *Star Trek: The Next Generation*. Scheduled to launch on November 28, 2025, this impressive set boasts 3,600 pieces and measures two feet in length, targeting adult fans who have long cherished Captain Picard and his crew.
This model stands out as the definitive representation of the Galaxy-class flagship, showcasing screen-accurate proportions and intricate details. Priced at $399.99, it is designed not just as a nostalgic keepsake but also as a striking display piece for any fan or design enthusiast.
Design Excellence and Functional Features
The centerpiece of this model is its detachable command saucer, allowing users to recreate dramatic scenes from the series. This feature is not merely cosmetic; the engineering behind the separation mechanism highlights the sophistication of the design. The connection points are cleverly concealed, ensuring a seamless appearance when assembled.
LEGO’s designers have paid careful attention to the Enterprise-D’s warp nacelles, capturing their distinctive red and blue detailing. The overall stance of the model, supported by an angled display stand, contributes to its dynamic presence, evoking the iconic ship’s forward-leaning energy during space travel.
Beyond aesthetics, the model is built for interaction. The rear shuttlebay opens to reveal two Type-15 Shuttlepods, which come with detailed hull markings. This interactive element transforms the model into a storytelling tool, inviting builders to engage with it beyond display.
Character Minifigures and Collectible Appeal
Included in the set are nine minifigures representing the core crew of *Star Trek: The Next Generation*, featuring characters such as Picard, Riker, and Data. Each figure comes with unique accessories that reflect their roles in the series. For example, Picard is equipped with his signature teacup, while Riker has a trombone for jazz night.
The attention to detail in these accessories underscores LEGO’s commitment to authenticity, enhancing the overall narrative potential of the model. The inclusion of phasers, tricorders, and other significant items allows users to recreate memorable moments from the series.
At 24 inches long, 19 inches wide, and 11 inches tall—including the stand—this model is designed to be a conversation starter. Its impressive scale and intricate detailing make it a centerpiece that invites close inspection, showcasing the clever techniques employed by LEGO to achieve the curves and gradients characteristic of the Enterprise.
During the launch window, LEGO will offer a bonus Type-15 Shuttlepod as a gift with purchase, along with limited-time bonuses like Classic Animation Scenes. The set also earns 2,600 LEGO Insiders Points for collectors, enhancing its appeal within the LEGO community. Given that only 10,000 sets will be produced initially, this limited availability suggests potential for value appreciation for those who keep their sets sealed.
The U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D exemplifies the best of LEGO’s Icons line, bridging nostalgia, design appreciation, and hands-on creativity. For $399.99, builders can enjoy a rewarding construction experience and a stunning display piece that celebrates a cornerstone of science fiction history.
