Ford Recalls Over 300,000 Vehicles Due to Fire Risk
Transport Canada has issued a recall for over 300,000 Ford vehicles due to a potential short circuit that could increase the risk of a fire. The recalls involve two separate notices, both of which highlight issues with the engine block heater that could lead to coolant leaks, resulting in dangerous electrical short circuits when the heater is plugged in.
The initial recall was published on January 9, 2023, and received an update on a recent Thursday. It specifically addresses vehicles equipped with a 2.0 L engine. The models affected in this recall include:
– Ford Escape (model years 2013 to 2019)
– Ford Focus (model years 2013 to 2018)
– Lincoln MKC (model years 2015 and 2016)
In the second recall, which replaces Transport Canada recall number 2025-554, the same issue with the engine block heater is cited. The impacted models in this recall are more extensive and include:
– Ford Bronco (model years 2021 to 2024)
– Ford Bronco Sport (model years 2021 to 2024)
– Ford Escape (model years 2020 to 2022)
– Ford Explorer (model years 2016 to 2024)
– Ford Focus (model years 2016 to 2018)
– Ford Maverick (model years 2022 to 2024)
– Ford Ranger (model years 2019 to 2024)
– Lincoln Corsair (model years 2020 to 2022)
– Lincoln MKC (model years 2016 to 2019)
According to the recall notices, Ford will notify affected vehicle owners by mail. The company advises these owners to take their vehicles to a dealership for a replacement of the block heater. Until the repairs are completed, owners are urged not to use the engine block heater to prevent any potential hazards.
For further information regarding the recalls, customers can visit Ford’s official website or contact their customer service at 1-800-565-3673. This recall underscores the importance of addressing safety concerns in the automotive industry, as manufacturers work to ensure the reliability and safety of their vehicles.
