Bethesda Expands Starfield with New DLC and Free Updates
Players of the popular space RPG, Starfield, can look forward to new content and updates as Bethesda Game Studios announces the continuation of support for the game. During a recent developer spotlight, lead creative producer Tim Lamb revealed that a second major story downloadable content (DLC) expansion is in the works, alongside various free updates and features.
Lamb expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming additions, stating, “I’m really excited for players to see what the team has been working on. We have some cool stuff coming, including free updates and features that players have been asking for, as well as a new DLC story.” He noted that part of the development team is focused on enhancing space gameplay, aiming to make travel within the game more rewarding. Additionally, players can expect new game systems and smaller features designed to enrich their experience.
The first story expansion, Shattered Space, launched in September 2024, introducing players to a new planet along with an array of weapons and gear to enhance gameplay. While details about the upcoming DLC remain under wraps, excitement continues to build among the fan community.
Although rumors about potential new platforms for Starfield have circulated, with credible leakers suggesting a launch on PS5 and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026, Lamb did not address these speculations during the spotlight session. As of now, no official confirmation has been made regarding expansion to additional platforms.
As Bethesda Game Studios manages these developments, the company is also hard at work on other major titles, including The Elder Scrolls 6 and Fallout 5, both highly anticipated within the gaming community. Earlier this year, the company released The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, which quickly became the second best-selling game of 2025 in the United States.
With ongoing updates for Starfield and several major franchises in the pipeline, Bethesda is committed to expanding its universe of role-playing games, ensuring players have a wealth of content to explore.
