Australia Leads the World in AI Engagement with 5 Million Uses Per Capita
A recent study has positioned Australia as the leading nation in artificial intelligence (AI) engagement, with over 5 million recorded uses of AI per capita. This finding highlights a growing global trend towards reliance on AI technologies, with significant variations observed across different countries. The research, conducted by the company Eskimoz, evaluated national trends by examining three key factors: total visits to AI-themed websites and applications, traffic per 100,000 residents, and the frequency of visits to AI tools.
The results, which will be relevant in the context of increasing AI integration in daily life, indicate that Australians utilize AI a staggering 1.35 billion times annually. Nearly 2% of this traffic is directed towards AI tools, such as chatbots and content generators, underscoring a strong preference for specialized applications.
Global AI Usage Trends
Following Australia, the Netherlands ranks second, with just under 5 million AI interactions per capita, translating to approximately 917 million total uses. In the Netherlands, AI tools account for just over 1% of all AI activity, showcasing a growing trend towards specific functionalities.
Canada takes the third position, reporting an impressive rate of 4.8 million AI interactions per capita. Canadians engage with AI approximately 2 billion times each year, surpassing both Australia and the Netherlands. Notably, a significant portion of these interactions—around 2.4%—focuses on specialized AI tools, indicating a higher demand for advanced applications compared to Australia.
The United States holds the fourth spot, demonstrating the highest total traffic to AI platforms at 16.4 billion uses annually. Despite its vast population, the U.S. maintains a per capita rate of 4.7 million, slightly below Canada. AI tools constitute 20% of all interactions, representing the largest share among the countries studied.
Rounding out the top five, the United Kingdom shows a strong engagement with AI, recording a usage rate of 3.5 million per capita. This translates to approximately 2.4 billion queries annually, with AI tools making up 3% of these interactions, highlighting a robust interest in AI services.
Further Insights into AI Engagement
In sixth place, Germany demonstrates substantial AI activity, with a total of 2.6 billion uses. AI tools in Germany account for 3.18% of all visits, reflecting a notable reliance on specialized applications.
“The findings underscore the increasing dependence on AI technologies across various nations, with Australia leading in per capita engagement,”
remarked a representative from Eskimoz.
Spain ranks seventh, mirroring Australia’s AI activity with 1.4 billion total uses. Here, specialized AI tools account for 1.77% of all interactions, showcasing a strong engagement similar to that of Australia.
France follows, with an average AI interaction rate of 2.9 million per capita. French users engage with AI approximately 1.9 billion times each year, indicating a robust interest in AI applications. Notably, AI tools account for 2.4% of all interactions, surpassing Canada’s share.
Peru claims the ninth position, being the only South American country included in this analysis. Peru registers an AI usage rate of 2.6 million per capita and a total of 926 million visits, with a higher dependency on AI tools at 1.15%.
Finally, Malaysia completes the top ten list with a rate of 2.4 million AI interactions per capita. The country records total visits to AI platforms at 888 million, with AI tools accounting for 1.09% of overall usage.
This data illustrates not only Australia’s leadership in AI engagement but also the broader global trend towards increased reliance on artificial intelligence across various nations. As countries navigate the integration of these technologies into daily life, understanding these patterns will be essential for both businesses and policymakers moving forward.
