Sault High School Athletes Shine at OFSAA Championship
Athletes from Sault Ste. Marie have made a significant mark at the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) Championships. Finnley Aho of Korah Collegiate secured a gold medal in the Junior Boys High School division, while Melina Bernardo of St. Mary’s College triumphed in the Paranordic skiing event.
The OFSAA Championships, held on March 10-12, 2024, brought together top high school skiers from across Ontario. Aho’s victory in the Junior Boys division highlighted his exceptional skill and determination, as he navigated the challenging course with speed and precision. His performance not only earned him gold but also recognition for his school and the local skiing community.
Bernardo’s achievement in Paranordic skiing showcased her resilience and dedication to the sport. Competing against other talented athletes, she demonstrated remarkable technique and stamina, finishing at the top of her category. Her success serves as an inspiration for aspiring athletes, particularly in adaptive sports.
Both Aho and Bernardo participated in events that tested their abilities on varied terrains, emphasizing the importance of versatility in skiing. Their accomplishments at OFSAA are a testament to their hard work and the support of their coaches and schools.
