Peachland Family Achieves Homeownership Through Habitat for Humanity

A family from Peachland, located in the Okanagan region of Canada, has secured their new home through the efforts of Habitat for Humanity. This significant milestone was made possible via the charity’s affordable homeownership program, which aims to facilitate sustainable living solutions for families in need.
The residence became available after another family, previously partnered with Habitat for Humanity, sold the home back to the organization through a unique buy-back model. This model allows families to build equity and eventually qualify for a traditional mortgage, enabling them to transition to independent homeownership. As Andrea Manifold, CEO of Habitat for Humanity Okanagan, explained, “This is a powerful example of how our unique home ownership model creates long-term impact.”
The buy-back option not only supports families in achieving homeownership but also contributes to a cycle of sustainability. When a family moves on, Habitat for Humanity can reinvest in another family’s future by making the home available again. Manifold emphasized the importance of this model, stating, “It’s a sustainable way to keep affordable housing in reach for those who need it most.”
The new homeowners expressed their gratitude during the official key ceremony, highlighting the profound impact this opportunity will have on their daughter and future siblings. “It’s the piece that our family was missing,” they remarked, underscoring the significance of having a stable home environment.
This event serves as a testament to the long-term positive effects of Habitat for Humanity’s initiatives in the community. The organization’s commitment to creating affordable housing options continues to make a tangible difference in the lives of families across the region.
