Two dedicated volunteers from Langley, British Columbia, received the prestigious Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers on March 15, 2023. This significant recognition was presented by Governor-General Mary Simon during a ceremony held at the Royal Canadian Legion, acknowledging their exceptional contributions to community service.
The Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers is awarded to individuals who have made a lasting impact on their communities through selfless volunteer work. This year, the medal was bestowed upon two individuals whose unwavering commitment has inspired others in Langley and beyond. Their stories reflect a commitment to fostering community spirit and support.
During the ceremony, Governor-General Simon emphasized the importance of volunteerism in building strong communities. “Volunteers are the backbone of our society, and their efforts are invaluable,” she stated. Her remarks highlighted how the work of volunteers can transform lives and strengthen connections among community members.
The recipients of the award, whose names have been kept confidential for privacy reasons, have dedicated countless hours to various initiatives in Langley.
