Kimberley Launches Nominations for 2025 Community Award
The City of Kimberley is inviting nominations for the 2025 Jack Ratcliffe Commitment to Community Award, celebrating individuals or groups that have made significant contributions to the community. This award honors the legacy of Jack Ratcliffe, the inaugural recipient, who dedicated decades to volunteerism and community service.
Established in 2020, the award serves as a tribute to Ratcliffe’s impactful life. He passed away in December 2025, leaving behind a profound legacy that continues to inspire civic pride and a spirit of giving in Kimberley. Mayor Don McCormick remarked on Ratcliffe’s influence, stating, “Jack was the embodiment of community spirit. His decades of service, generosity, and leadership touched every corner of Kimberley. With Jack’s passing this past fall, this award takes on added significance this year.”
Nomination Criteria and Award Details
To qualify for the award, nominees must be residents of Kimberley with no age restrictions. They should demonstrate a long-term commitment to the community, defined as a minimum of three years, and their contributions should notably enhance the quality of life for residents through volunteerism, leadership, and service.
The recipient will have their name engraved on the Jack Ratcliffe Commitment to Community plaque at City Hall. Additionally, they will receive an award and the opportunity to donate $500 to a registered not-for-profit or incorporated charity of their choice.
How to Submit Nominations
Nominations can be submitted until February 2, 2025, using the form available on the City of Kimberley’s official website: www.kimberley.ca/community-grants.
This initiative reflects the city’s commitment to honoring Jack Ratcliffe’s memory by recognizing those who continue his tradition of selfless service. The award aims to inspire others within Kimberley to contribute positively to the community, ensuring that Ratcliffe’s spirit of dedication remains alive.
