Canadian Mental Health Association Expands Services with New Locations
The Canadian Mental Health Association, Simcoe County Branch (CMHA SCB), is set to enhance its mental health services by relocating several programs in Barrie and Orillia starting in January 2024. This initiative underscores the organization’s ongoing commitment to providing accessible and coordinated mental health and addiction services throughout the region.
Sarah Banbury, CEO of CMHA SCB, emphasized the significance of this transition. “Moving to 99 Ferris Lane represents a significant step forward for CMHA SCB,” she stated. The new location is expected to strengthen the organization’s capacity to serve clients while promoting collaboration among service providers. Banbury added that this relocation is part of a broader strategy to expand the reach of their programs within the community.
The move to a new facility in Orillia is particularly noteworthy for the city’s mental health care landscape. According to Dianne Mowat, Manager of the North Simcoe ACT Team, the new location enhances accessibility for clients. “Moving to this new location will make it easier for our clients to access the support they need,” Mowat explained. “It’s about being closer, more connected, and more responsive to our community.”
Details of the Relocation
In Barrie, the CMHA SCB will transition its services from two locations: 128 Anne Street South and 134 Anne Street South to the new address at 99 Ferris Lane. This central location is anticipated to improve client access and service delivery.
In Orillia, the organization is moving its operations to 94 Colborne Street. This change is expected to provide a more welcoming environment for clients seeking mental health support, further aligning with CMHA SCB’s mission to enhance community-based mental health services.
These changes reflect a growing recognition of the importance of mental health care and the need for facilities that are not only accessible but also equipped to meet the diverse needs of the population. The CMHA SCB’s commitment to high-quality service delivery is evident in its proactive approach to relocating and expanding its facilities.
As the CMHA SCB prepares for this transition, community members can expect improved access to mental health services that are responsive to their needs. The organization aims to foster a supportive environment that prioritizes the well-being of individuals in Barrie and Orillia, reflecting a broader trend towards enhancing mental health resources across Canada.
