The University of Illinois Extension has announced the return of its Community Tree Care Series, a comprehensive webinar program designed to enhance knowledge about tree maintenance and health. This initiative aims to provide attendees with research-backed information, ensuring that both professionals and community members can contribute to the health of urban forests.

Proper tree care is essential for maximizing the lifespan of trees and promoting a sustainable urban environment. Communities with well-maintained trees benefit from improved air quality, reduced stress levels, and enhanced overall comfort. The webinars will cover a range of topics, making them valuable for arborists, municipal staff, community volunteers, and anyone interested in tree care.

Registration for the series is required and grants access to six interactive sessions. Each session will take place from 09:00 to 11:00 a.m. (CST), featuring two main topics per date. The cost for general access to all sessions is $10, while those seeking Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will pay $50. Certified arborists from the Illinois Arborist Association can earn two hours of CEUs per session by attending live webinars. Arborists are advised to register as certified professionals by providing their ISA certification number during the process.

Webinar Schedule and Topics

The first session kicks off on January 13, 2026, with a focus on trees that support pollinators and the identification of evergreen species:

– 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. – Needle Little Help? Evergreen Identification and Functions in the Landscape
