The annual College and Career Fair at Rock Falls High School will take place on February 12, 2024, from 16:00 to 18:00 in the school’s Tabor Gymnasium. This event aims to connect students with a variety of educational and career opportunities, featuring numerous colleges, universities, and businesses.

A diverse array of educational institutions is expected to participate. Among the colleges and universities attending are Aurora University, Illinois Wesleyan University, Rockford University, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, and Western Illinois University. Community colleges such as Black Hawk College and Sauk Valley Community College will also be present, alongside technical schools like the Universal Technical Institute.

Participating Businesses and Organizations

In addition to educational institutions, various businesses will be represented, providing students with insights into potential career paths. Notable participants include CGH Medical Center, Wal-Mart DC, and the Illinois Department of Transportation. Organizations like the Plumber and Pipefitters Union and local emergency services, including the Rock Falls Fire Department and Rock Falls Police Department, will also be on-site to discuss job opportunities and career development.

The fair will not only feature colleges and businesses but also include military branches and community organizations. Students can engage with representatives from the Air National Guard, Marines, and the Army National Guard, as well as local nonprofits such as the YWCA and Lutheran Social Services. These organizations aim to provide students with a broad understanding of options available after high school.

This event represents a valuable opportunity for students to explore their future educational and career options, allowing them to connect directly with representatives and gather information that can guide their decisions. The College and Career Fair is expected to draw a significant turnout, fostering meaningful interactions between students and industry professionals.
