The Kingston School of Art (KSOA) is set to relocate to a new facility at Providence Village, located at 1200 Princess St., later this month. This move follows a period of uncertainty after the decision to vacate their previous location at the corner of Princess St. and Victoria St. The new space will provide KSOA with greater accessibility for its classrooms and dedicated room for printmaking presses, enhancing its capacity to serve the community.

KSOA will join several other organizations in Providence Village, including Girls Inc. Limestone, the H’art Centre, and the Independent Living Centre Kingston. This new environment is expected to facilitate collaborative opportunities among these non-profits, fostering a vibrant community arts scene.

A Fresh Start for the Community Hub

KSOA board member Rob Hosier expressed enthusiasm about the transition, noting the serendipitous timing of the move. “It’s just that perfect timing that you never get in working with non-profit organizations,” he said. “They came to us in the purest sense of community.” This sentiment highlights the importance of community support in the arts sector, especially during periods of change.

As the Kingston School of Art prepares for its new chapter, it anticipates a smooth transition into its fall programming. The organization is actively seeking volunteers to assist with the move and contribute to the ongoing development of its programs. With the relocation to Providence Village, KSOA aims to enhance its offerings and strengthen its ties within the community.

The new location is expected to provide an inviting atmosphere for both new and returning members, allowing KSOA to expand its reach and impact. The transition signifies a commitment to sustaining the arts in Kingston, ensuring that residents have access to creative resources and educational opportunities.

As KSOA embarks on this exciting journey, community members are encouraged to get involved and support the arts in Kingston.
