The Plano Public Library is hosting an array of engaging programs throughout February, catering to both adults and children. These activities aim to foster creativity, learning, and community engagement. From writing workshops to yoga classes, there is something for everyone this month.

Upcoming Programs for Adults

The library will kick off its adult programming with the Writers Group, which meets from 18:30 to 20:00 on February 12 and 26. This group welcomes aspiring writers to share their work and exchange ideas in a supportive environment. Participation is open to adults and high school students, with no registration necessary.

On February 13, 20, and 27, certified instructor Jen Penn will lead a yoga class from 10:30 to 11:30. This welcoming session aims to help attendees combat winter blues and enhance their mood. Participants are encouraged to bring their own mats or use those provided by the library. Interested individuals can register for each class separately.

Another creative option is the Painting with Petite Palette session on February 9 from 18:30 to 20:00. Attendees will be guided by an artist from The Petite Palette to create an acrylic on canvas painting. Each month features a new artwork, with a fee of $15 required at registration.

For those needing technical assistance, the Technology Help Desk will operate on February 10 from 12:00 to 13:00. Steve Goodwin, a tech expert, will be available to answer questions about personal devices. Participants should bring their devices for a more effective experience.

Community service is also on the agenda with the New Life for Old Bags program on February 14, from 10:30 to 12:00. Volunteers will transform plastic shopping bags into sleeping mats for the homeless. For more details, contact Ceil Carey at [email protected].

On February 17, from 12:30 to 14:00, constituents can meet with a representative from State Senator Sue Rezin’s office at the library. This service aims to assist individuals with navigating state or government-related issues.

The Card Making Class on February 17, from 18:30 to 20:00, invites participants to create five handmade triangle embossed cards. All supplies are provided for a fee of $5, and the class is open to adults, high school students, and children aged ten and older, accompanied by an adult.

Activities for Children and Teens

Children can also look forward to engaging programs such as Making Music on February 9, from 10:30 to 11:10. This class, led by music teacher Jessica Ortega, includes singing, movement, and instrument play for children aged 0-5, accompanied by an adult. Registration is required for this program.

Pizza and Pages, scheduled for February 10 from 17:00 to 17:45, invites teens in grades 7-9 to discuss a pre-selected book while enjoying pizza. Registration is necessary for this event.

For younger children, the Hugs and Kisses Storytime on February 16 will celebrate love and friendship through stories and crafts. This program is for independent children aged 3-5, with sessions available at 10:30 to 11:00 and 18:00 to 18:30. Registration is also required.

Rhyme Time, a lap-sit story time for children from birth to 36 months, will occur on February 11, 18, and 25, and March 4 and 11, from 10:30 to 11:00 or 18:00 to 18:30. This interactive session encourages adult participation for a nurturing experience.
