The Putnam County Public Library District’s McNabb Branch will host a “Snowflake Wonders Art Workshop” on January 7, 2024, at 16:00. This engaging workshop invites participants to explore the fascinating world of snowflakes through the lens of history and art.

The event will feature an introduction to Wilson “Snowflake” Bentley, a pioneering figure who became the first person to photograph snowflakes in 1885. Bentley’s remarkable work revealed the intricate beauty of snow crystals, emphasizing that no two snowflakes are alike. Attendees will have the opportunity to view a short film detailing Bentley’s life and groundbreaking discoveries.

Following the film, participants will unleash their creativity by crafting their own unique snowflakes using oil pastels, watercolor, and salt. This hands-on experience not only celebrates the beauty of winter but also honors Bentley’s significant contributions to the understanding of snowflakes.

The workshop is free and open to the public, making it an excellent opportunity for families and art enthusiasts alike. The McNabb Branch is located at 322 W. Main St., McNabb. For more information, interested individuals can contact the library at 815-339-2038.

This event promises a delightful blend of education and creativity, perfect for those looking to embrace the winter season in a unique way.
