Castlegar Launches 2026 Readers’ Choice Contest for Local Favorites
The 2026 Readers’ Choice Contest is now open for nominations, inviting residents of Castlegar to celebrate their favorite local businesses, individuals, and places. Organized by the Castlegar News, this annual campaign aims to recognize outstanding local favorites across various categories, fostering a sense of community pride.
The nomination period runs from March 2 to March 29, 2026. During this time, participants can submit one nomination per day in each category. All nominations are subject to review and manual approval, so individuals are encouraged to be patient as their submissions are processed.
Once the nomination period concludes, the contest will transition to the voting phase, which takes place from April 13 to May 10, 2026. The top five finalists in each category, determined by the number of nominations received, will advance to this voting round. Community members will have the opportunity to cast their votes and help determine the winners.
In addition to the recognition, participants also have the chance to win cash prizes. During the nomination phase, a total of $100 will be awarded, with another $100 available during the voting period. Each entry or vote provides participants with an opportunity to win.
For local businesses looking to enhance their visibility during the contest, advertising packages are available. These packages can help businesses stand out and attract more attention throughout the contest. Interested parties can reach out to Etelka Mihaly at [email protected] or call 250-365-6397 for further details.
The Readers’ Choice Contest not only promotes local businesses but also encourages community engagement. By participating in the contest, residents can highlight the contributions of their favorite establishments and individuals, ultimately fostering a stronger community spirit in Castlegar.
