Belleville Police Services Board to Reassess Budget on December 8
The Belleville Police Services Board is set to reassess its budget for 2026 during a special meeting scheduled for December 8. The meeting will commence at 10:00 a.m. at the Joint Forces Operations Room, located at 459 Sidney Street in Belleville.
The decision to revisit the budget follows a request from Belleville Mayor Neil Ellis during the last Council meeting. Ellis urged the Police Service to reconsider its spending plan, which had previously included a proposed increase of up to 15%. This review comes in light of community concerns regarding financial management and resource allocation within the police department.
Details of the Special Meeting
The agenda for the upcoming meeting will focus on the BPS 2026 Operating Budget. Members of the public are encouraged to attend and engage in the discussions, which will address key financial decisions affecting the police services in Belleville.
For those interested, the full agenda will be available online through the official Belleville Police Service website. The Board aims to ensure transparency and openness in its deliberations, reflecting the community’s interest in the fiscal health of local law enforcement.
This meeting represents a critical opportunity for stakeholders to voice their opinions and contribute to the decision-making process regarding public safety funding. The outcome of this reassessment may significantly impact how resources are allocated within the Belleville Police Service moving forward.
As the meeting approaches, both city officials and residents are keenly aware that the financial strategies developed during this session will shape the future operational capabilities of the police force in Belleville.
