1963 Corvette Designer Peter Brock to Auction His Custom Split-Window
A unique opportunity arises for car enthusiasts as a customized 1963 Chevrolet Corvette restomod, crafted by its original designer Peter Brock, heads to auction. Scheduled for January 16, 2026, at Mecum Auctions in Kissimmee, Florida, this vehicle is anticipated to fetch a price exceeding CDN$500,000.
The vehicle, known as the “Corvette Studio Concept,” showcases modifications that reflect Brock’s original vision from his 1957 sketches of the second-generation Corvette, created when he was just 21 years old. This auction marks a significant moment as Brock himself will be selling the car, adding to its historical value and appeal.
Distinctive Features and Performance Enhancements
Brock’s redesigned Corvette was first revealed at the SEMA 2024 event, presented as a silver prototype. It is part of a limited run of 20 vehicles, each featuring a distinct color combination. The car being auctioned is finished in a striking dark blue hue known as Azzurro California, with most chrome elements blacked out for a modern aesthetic.
The modifications include notable changes to the vehicle’s exterior, such as the replacement of iconic pop-up headlights with recessed units behind a flush lens. Functional vents have been introduced on the hood and B-pillars, addressing Brock’s disdain for non-functional design elements. The rear split-window glass has been enlarged and flush-mounted, while the fenders have been subtly flared to accommodate wider tires.
Inside, the car features a refined interior with tan and dark blue leather, modern bucket seats, and an updated steering wheel, all contributing to a contemporary driving experience.
Power and Performance Specifications
The Corvette is built on a custom Art Morrison chassis, integrating components from the C7 generation for improved performance. Under the hood lies a powerful 6.2-litre LT4 V8 engine that produces approximately 725 horsepower. This impressive power is paired with a Tremec TKX five-speed manual transmission, allowing for a thrilling driving experience. Additional enhancements include Wilwood disc brakes and Vintage Air A/C, ensuring both performance and comfort.
Brock’s creation was unveiled at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show in Chicago in November 2025, indicating that he is parting with the vehicle shortly after its completion.
While Mecum Auctions has yet to provide a pre-sale estimate for this specific car, a similar prototype sold at a Barrett-Jackson event for US$357,000 (approximately CDN$491,000) last year, offering a glimpse into the potential bidding landscape.
As the auction date approaches, avid collectors and Corvette aficionados are poised to see how high the bids will go for this iconic piece of automotive history. The auction will not only celebrate Brock’s contributions to car design but also serve as a testament to the enduring legacy of the Chevrolet Corvette.
