Braden Calvert secured a crucial victory over Jordon McDonald, winning 8-5 in the second match of the Home Hardware Canadian Curling Pre-Trials. This win on Saturday afternoon in Wolfville has set the stage for a decisive third match in their best-of-three series.

Calvert, who hails from Winnipeg, displayed a strong performance, especially in the later ends. He sealed the win with two steals in the eighth end and one in the ninth. This victory comes after McDonald defeated Calvert 10-5 in their initial encounter on Friday night.

Upcoming Deciding Match

The final match between Calvert and McDonald is scheduled for Sunday, where both teams will compete for a spot at the Montana’s Olympic Curling Trials next month in Halifax.

Earlier in the day, the women’s final also saw action, with Edmonton’s Selena Sturmay defeating Victoria’s Kayla MacMillan 8-5 in their first match. A second match was planned for Saturday evening, with a third match to follow if necessary.

The pre-trials serve as a critical pathway for curlers aiming to qualify for the Olympic Trials, highlighting the competitive nature of the sport in Canada.
